At 34 weeks pregnant, several small questions can turn into a confusing pile by the time you reach your appointment. This week, turn that pile into a short conversation plan. Clear information is part of preparation, even when no shopping or packing gets done.

Your Baby This Week

The NHS gives an approximate length of 45 cm and describes your baby curled with bent legs. Less room is not a reason to dismiss a change in movements.

Changes in Your Body

Back discomfort, heartburn or sleep problems may still be affecting you. A useful appointment note describes what happens, when it began and what it prevents you doing, without trying to diagnose the cause yourself.

Common Experiences

It is easy to remember the practical questions on the way home. Keep them in one note and place the most important one first. If you are worried about something urgent, call instead of saving it for the next routine visit.

Your Practical Checklist

  • Write your three main questions before the appointment.
  • Bring a list of symptoms or concerns you want to describe.
  • Ask what recent results mean and whether anything needs follow-up.
  • Confirm the next appointment and how to contact the team between visits.
  • Ask for an explanation if instructions or medical words are unclear.

Your support person can help remember the questions or take notes if you want them involved. At the end, summarize the plan back: what happens next, who arranges it and when to call. This is particularly useful if you see different professionals or have been given several pieces of information.

Questions for Your Care Team

What is the plan for the remaining weeks? Does anything about my care need additional monitoring? Which decisions do I need to think about now? Where can I find information in a format or language that works for me?

When to Seek Professional Advice

Contact your maternity team immediately about changed or reduced movements. Seek urgent advice for bleeding, fluid leakage, severe headache, vision changes or sudden swelling. Before 37 weeks, call about regular tightenings or unusual backache.

Coming Next

Week 35 focuses on a first-week household plan: food, school runs, errands and visitor boundaries.
